May provides a great opportunity to spread the word about the importance of regular eye-health exams. To help us in this endeavor, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) and Doctors of Optometry Canada have partnered with media outlets across the country to produce and distribute articles on ocular health. The project is called “Vision – A Joint Venture,” and includes 9 moving and informative articles on issues ranging from children’s ocular health to glaucoma. There’s also an infographic about eye exams.
These are resources that every optometry practice should make use of. You may want to provide links to these articles on your website or, if you’re hip with the times, “like” them on your facebook page. Leaving printed copies in your waiting room might cause your patients to think of loved ones that should be having their eyes examined. And don’t forget to leave copies in your staff room too! These articles will remind your employees of the positive impact they have and enhance their sense of purpose when serving your patients.
